Showtime’s Inside The NFL Picks
In an era where you have multiple sports networks devoted to covering the NFL, including the NFL Network itself, one NFL show remains very popular on a network that has little to do directly with the NFL.
Inside the NFL on the Showtime Network is the longest running specialty show devoted to the NFL … and it’s even the longest continuously running show on cable television, debuting in 1977. It originally appeared on HBO, but shifted to Showtime in the fall of 2008, where it appears Wednesdays at 9 p.m. Eastern and Pacific time.
The hosting team includes former Super Bowl champion quarterback Phil Simms, former Pro Bowl wide receiver Cris Collinsworth, and current CBS NFL pre-game show host James Brown.
Collinsworth has been on Inside the NFL on Showtime since 1989, and he became the lead analyst on NBC’s Sunday Night Football game broadcasts in 2009. Simms has called games for both NBC and CBS, and he joined the Inside the NFL team in 2008. Brown has hosted the CBS show since 2006, and he hosted the FOX pre-game show for 12 years before that.
